Windscreen Replacement
A crack that has spread, or glass damaged beyond repair? We fit a new windscreen at your home or work, matched to your registration.
Mobile windscreen repair across London
A windscreen repair fills a stone chip with resin before it runs into a crack, and the glass never has to come out. We are a local, family owned business in Wood Green, N22, and we bring the resin and UV lamp to your car, whether it is at home or at work.
It only takes a minute. Tell us a few details and your reg and we will ring you back with a fixed price and availability.
A family business based in N22, not a national chain. You talk to real people who care about your car.
Our technicians have been fitting car glass for over 20 years, so there is very little they have not seen before.
Workmanship warranty on glass replacements only, covering leaks and wind noise.
We come to you for free. The price we quote is the price you pay.
Repair first
Filling a chip has more going for it than the lower price.
A repair is done from the outside of the glass, and the bond that holds your windscreen in and the trims round it are left alone.
With no new glass or adhesive to pay for, a repair costs far less than fitting a new windscreen. Every stone chip repair is £75 per chip, on a car or a van, and not a penny more.
Resin fills and bonds the break, and a filled chip is much less likely to crack in a frost or over a pothole. If one we filled ever does crack, half of what you paid for the repair comes off a new windscreen fitted by us.
Some windscreens have to be ordered in for your car before they can be fitted. A repair needs only resin, and we carry that in the van.
Step by step
It starts with a photo on your phone and ends with the glass polished smooth.
Lay a coin beside the chip for scale, take a photo and send it to us on WhatsApp. If resin can fill it, a technician will be with you within 24 hours.
Before anything touches the glass, we look for legs, the fine cracks that can run out from a chip, and tell you how the finished repair is likely to look.
Loose splinters and grit are picked out of the impact point with a fine probe. If rain or car wash water has got in, we dry it out first, because resin will not fill a wet break properly.
A small bridge holds the resin injector over the chip with a suction cup. It draws the trapped air from the break, then pushes resin in under pressure until the whole break has filled.
We take the injector off, add a drop of thicker resin to seal the surface and cover it with a clear curing strip. A UV lamp then hardens the resin in a few minutes.
Once the resin is hard, we scrape the surface level with a blade, polish the glass and show you the finished repair.
Types of chip
A repair rarely vanishes altogether, and how clear it comes out depends on the shape of the break and on how fresh and clean it is. Compare your chip with these four.
A neat round mark, often with a small crater where the stone struck. Bullseyes tend to repair the most cleanly, and many end up as a light ring you have to look for.
Several legs run out from the centre like the spokes of a wheel. Resin has to reach the end of each one, and the finest legs can stay visible as thin lines.
A bullseye with legs running out of it. The legs are the part that spreads, so the sooner this kind of chip is filled, the better it turns out.
A semicircle, like half a bullseye. It usually fills well and leaves little more than a slight curved line in the glass.
Good to know
Chips right in front of the driver, in the strip the MOT calls zone A, can be repaired as long as they are no bigger than 10 mm. A faint mark may stay in your view there, so we talk it through with you before we start.
Anywhere else on the glass, what is left after a repair is far harder to spot than the chip was, and you notice it even less once you are looking at the road rather than at the screen.
UV light is what sets the resin, so in bright sunshine we shade the chip to stop it hardening before the break has filled. On a frosty morning we warm the glass gently first, because resin is slow to flow into cold glass.
A chip repair needs a lot less room than a new windscreen. As long as we can reach the front of the car, a narrow bay, a residents' car park or a space at the kerb is usually fine.

I was recommended Prime Windscreensby someone to fix quite a big chip on my windscreen from a stone on the motorway. I wasn’t disappointed. His work was excellent and he is very experienced, honest and trustworthy. Amazing work and I would highly recommend them to anyone with windscreen issue! I was able to get it fixed the same day I contacted him as I need it for my work. Thank you so much!

Just had Stefan from Prime Windscreens come out to me to repair a windscreen chip, which happened yesterday on the motorway. Stefan is prompt, reliable, and very knowledgeable within his field. I'm glad I came across him and his company via Google. … Top service 5 stars
FAQs
Every stone chip repair is £75 per chip, on a car or a van, and not a penny more, as long as the chip can be repaired. If you have two chips on the same windscreen, we will not charge you £75 twice, because we are already there doing the job. Ring us and we will agree a price for both.
Most chips take about 20 to 30 minutes once we are with you. There is no adhesive to set afterwards, as there is with a new windscreen, so you can drive away as soon as we have finished.
Yes, we can repair two chips on the same screen. If there are more than two, we recommend replacing the windscreen instead.
Not usually, as long as no crack has started to run from it. Months of grime in the break can leave the finished repair a little cloudier than a fresh chip would be.
No. Whether your screen is heated by fine wires or by a clear coating, the heating is sealed inside the screen, and the resin only fills the break in the outer glass. The repair does not change how the heating works.
No repair can promise that a chip will never spread. If a chip we repaired does crack, we take half of what you paid for the repair off the price of a new windscreen fitted by us.

We also fit new windscreens, rear screens, door windows, quarter and vent glass and van glass.
